What is a HIA?

A Head Injury Assessment is a set process a player goes through after a head knock, either on the field or in a short off-field window, to check for concussion symptoms before they're allowed to return to play. It's a player welfare measure, separate from the laws around foul play itself, though the two often come up in the same incident.
